NHL 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs At the end of annual regular season 16 teams-participants of Stanley Cup are selected. Winners of each division (3) are automatically qualified for Playoffs; the other 5 teams are selected based on the best conference results. At 1/8f, 1/4f and semifinals clubs select the winner of the Western and Eastern conferences in the best-of-four series. After the first stage (1/8f) pairs for quarterfinals to be selected by lots. In the final series 2 clubs – conference winners are going to challenge for Stanley Cup. This year it is going to be 91st time when Stanley Cup is played off.
